REVIEW for Mo Dirty

BOOKSHIPPER WELCOMES PUMP UP YOUR BOOK PROMOTION and AUTHOR DARRELL KING

TITLE: Mo Dirty Still Stuntin
AUTHOR: Darrell King
GENRE: Fiction
RATING: 3 stars
I really enjoy reading a novel depicting gangs and gang rivalry.
This is one of the reasons I was really looking forward to reading Mo Dirty by Darrell King.

Mo Dirty starts off with a bang (always appreciated in this type of book). A well-known hustler and preacher is gunned down – thanks to a contract that was put out on him by his own fiancĂ© – the reason? She was tired of him cheating on her!!! I love it!

The killing introduces us to Whiskey who will be at the center of this novel. Mo Dirty holds nothing back – we get a very detailed look at gangs and everything they stand for – including drug deals and a lot of violence. We also get to meet the gang leaders who believe they are larger than life – and expect you to believe the same thing.
While this book has some thrilling and entertaining moments, it did not manage to engage me as much as I would have liked. None of the characters are particularly likeable and that’s to be expected in this type of book, however, there is so much gratuitous violence and so much overall stupidity within the characters that it felt all a little bit too much for me. I was wondering what the point of this book really was?
The writing was good and the author does know how to move a storyline along and he obviously knows his subject matter well, which makes this book a good read.
