REVIEW for Hi and Lois

Thank you goes out to ECW Press for kindly sending me this wonderful comic strip to read and review.

TITLE: Hi and Lois
AUTHORS: Brian and Greg Walker
Chance Browne
GENRE: Comic Strip
RATING: 5 Stars

Living in my part of the world makes finding the cartoon Hi and Lois a little difficult to find at times. However, I had to jump at the opportunity of reading this wonderfully put together collection of the Sunday Best featuring the whole Hi and Lois gang.
This book is softcover measuring 11 inches X 8.5 approx. There are a total of 128 pages and almost each page (with the exception of the first few pages which consists more of an intro to the strip) features the beautifully color drawn strips that we found at one time or another in the Sunday papers. Each page is numbered and while it is true that the individual creation/publication dates are not indicated, you can easily see the evolution of the drawings which made it fun for me as I like to see the development of the artist as he grows with his medium.
Also, this strip is such fun to read. It is innocent and brings me back to earlier in my life when I was a child and things always seemed so much simpler. Trixie and her love of the sunbeam - so sweet and beautiful. I also love the "thoughts" that run through her little head - always wondering, always discovering - it is heartwarming.
Of course, I also love Dawg....
This strip has an innocence that touches me deeply and this collection is beautiful.

Oh my gosh! I used to love that comic strip. Our last 2 papers haven't carried it so I didn't know it was still around. Thanks for the review.

I love that comic strip. Very rarely did I miss reading Hi & Lois in the Sunday Paper. Wonderfully written review makes me want to go out and buy the book.

I remember this strip! When I was young, we always got the Detroit Free Press at the cottage and it was featured there. I had forgotten about it and had no idea it was still around.

I miss reading the comics! I remember when I was a little girl I thought I was so "grown-up" for reading the paper with my mom and dad while reading them. Your post brings me back...great review!

I don't read newspapers, but I remember when seeing one at the doctor's office or at a friends that's the first section I look at. I loved Family Circle and Dagwood Bumstead too as a kid and never got tired of them even as an adult. Timeless fun!
