TITLE: Dancing Naked in Dixie
AUTHOR: Lauren Clark
GENRE: Chick Lit
RATING: 4 stars
I really had no idea what to expect when I looked the synopsis of this book, but I was more than happy to read because it sounded right up my alley – and I was right, although I have to admit that the title turned me off a little bit (not quite sure why actually).
The thing that I loved most about this book was Julia Sullivan, the main character. Our first introduction to Julia is through a whirlwind of magazines, deadlines, spilled lattes and oh yeah! Her new boss – her dad. I knew immediately that Julia was going to be my kind of character.
As the story unfolds, we discover that Julia’s mother died a little while ago, which is the catalyst that has moved (or not) Julia’s life forward, however, we also come to understand that Julia has been running away from the pain her mother’s death has given her, she has never really deal with her emotions. But all of this is about to change when Julia is told that she will no longer be the world travelling magazine writer, but rather, is expected to head to Alabama, to write what may become her most important article yet.
Unexpectedly, Alabama will prove to be a healing place for Julia and she will find so much more than just a tiny little community of people who could not possibly be as fulfilling as those who live in jet set cities around the world – or could they?
Extremely well written and engaging, this book, while entertaining and funny also delivers strong messages about emotions, love and discovering that, in many cases, finding what you need is so closer to home than you might think. Loved it.

Merci beaucoup for the lovely review of Dancing Naked in Dixie :) Yes, the title can make a reader hesitate ... and sometimes I wish we could put a movie rating on our novels ....Dixie would be G or PG!!!
You really captured the concept of the story: finding happiness in the most unexpected of places! I am so glad you enjoyed the book!
xx, lauren
