REVIEW for She's So Dead to Us

Thank you to the wonderful Michelle at Simon & Schuster Canada for sending me this book!

TITLE: She's So Dead To Us

AUTHOR: Kieran Scott

GENRE: YA

RATING: 3 Stars

I enjoyed She's So Dead to Us - mainly because I am a fan of this author. However, having said that - the first thought that came to mind, as I was reading, was "wow, there is alot of stuff going on in this book, at the same time". Told in alternative voices through Ally and Jake (a method that I am not overly fond of by the way) it is interesting to read the very different perspectives these two YA have on the same situations. Kind of a she said/he said.

The main plotline is interesting - Ally is no longer part of the "in" crowd - thanks to her dad and his poor investments. The book is obviously geared towards life lessons such as what true friendship really is, the fleeting importance of money, as well as trying to find your way through relationships. However, what was missing, for me, was the cute whimsical side that this author usually includes in her books - including the Cheerleader series.

The writing is fine, as always and the story was engaging - but, somehow, it missed the mark a little bit for me.

It does sound like the book has a good message - maybe you're a little older than the target audience?
