TITLE: 5 Stages of Grief
AUTHOR: Bethany Ramos
GENRE: Chick Lit
RATING: 4 Stars
To be honest, I had no idea what to expect from this book. I was wondering how on earth first time author Ramos was going to take a subject like death and turn it into something chick litty and funny at the same time. Nonetheless, I was intrigued. I also have to say that while I did like the cover of this book (I am a cover person - what can I say?) I adored the title! clever.
The basis for the storyline is that our main character Danielle finds herself burying her husband, all of this before the age of 30. However, as she delves into his life more and more, she discovers that he had a very secret "secret" - another woman (or is it women???). Danielle finds herself now dealing with both his death and his secrets and is finding all of it just a bit much to live with.
While the above sypnosis may sound dreadful (and I must admit that I have, at times, wondered what it would be like to discover dirt on your husband, just as you are mourning him), the author has done a wonderful job of giving Danielle a voice - not as a victim, but as someone who is determined to a) get to the bottom of the situation and b) to move on to bigger and better.
What follows is a book that is loaded with, for the most part, humour. It is a story that is uplifing and encouraging - in which the female character does not shrivel up and die, but rather deals with life on life's terms! I loved it.
At times, I thought the dialogue was a tad silly, but this is minor compared to my overall enjoyment of this uplifting novel.

I honestly don't know how - burying her husband, all of this before the age of 30 could be chick-lity and funny, LOL but I will take your word for it!
It does sound cute.
Super cute book! I really enjoyed it :)
