REVIEW for Essex Girls

Another huge thank you goes out to Avon books (a division of Harper Collins UK) for sending me a copy of this book.

TITLE:             Essex Girls

AUTHOR:        Laura Ziepe

GENRE:           Chick Lit

RATING:

This book opens with a woman discovering that her boyfriend is cheating on her - been there, done that! so I was, of course, instantly hooked.  Add to the list the fact that this is smart chick lit and I was all in.

Avon books (which is a UK division) always, always has excellent chick lit.  I have said this many times before, the Brits do chick lit like no one else and I love it.

Jade, Kelly and Lisa are all facing some tough "life lessons" (don't you love those?) but are going to do exactly what they want to do - despite the problems they encounter.  Their solution is to find a geographical cure - at least for a little bit, while they live a life of fantasy in the sun.

This book explores the pain of cheating, but it is also a hopeful story about how friendship can overcome everything, even a cheating heart.  This story was hopeful and heartwarming and reminded me a tiny bit of the Sex and the City movie where Carrie ends up in a beautiful locale but is too depressed to enjoy it, but her friends get her through it.

I liked this story, it was told with affection, humor and the perfect tone of reality.
