REVIEW for Paris my Sweet

Thank you to Sourceboooks for sending me a copy of this book.

TITLE:                Paris my Sweet

AUTHOR:          Amy Thomas

GENRE:             Memoir

RATING:           3.5 Stars

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this book, especially since I have to admit that I have read my share of ‘Paris’ memoirs and have found many of them to be a tad repetitious.

Having said that, however, I was intrigued by the author’s chocolate addiction and how she so naturally associated her love of Paris with her love of chocolate – it seemed to be  a natural fit and that got me intrigued.

I can certainly attest to the fact that the author was willing to go (and did) to many lengths to discover just how wonderful chocolate can truly be.  In fact, this is probably, in my opinion, the strongest asset in this book – the absolutely wondrous detailed descriptions of some amazing chocolate ‘finds’.  I felt as though I could almost savor them myself – what a delight.

I did enjoy this book and I thought that the author does a great job of describing her everyday life in Paris.  The voice was clear and, for the most part, very interesting and while I found some aspects of this book a tad overdone, the overall storyline kept me engaged and, of course, the chocolate descriptions kept me salivating.
