REVIEW for Ex-Rich Girl Tells All

Thank you to NetGalley and Kami Corban for sending me a copy of this book.

TITLE:                Ex Rich Girl Tells All

AUTHOR:           Kami Corban

GENRE:              Memoir

RATING:

One of my all time favorite sayings is ‘don’t compare your insides with someone else’s outsides’.  For those of you who have read my blog, you have certainly heard me quote this before, however, as I was reading Ex-Rich Girl Tells All, I could not help but feel as though this particular saying was extremely appropriate in this case.

I am not sure I would call this book entertaining – because of the very, very difficult subject matter.  Rather the words ‘intense’ and ‘riveting’ might be more to the point.  It is amazing to me, as I zipped through this short memoir, that a person can seem to have it all, all the while her/his whole world is imploding.

Corban has a lot of guts to write this memoir, although her writing style is a bit manic, which I guess kind of goes perfectly with the telling of her story.  From spoiled and pampered to the harsh reality that can come after living that life, this book is frank and honest in exploring how ‘real’ life can be different for everybody, especially if you find yourself stuck between two forces who control your life, your thoughts and your emotions.

I would not have wanted to be Corban having to live the difficult life experiences she has had to go through, especially without the emotional support she so badly needed and, to be honest, I am not quite sure just how sure a footing she is on, but one thing I can tell you, this is one tough chick.

This book was an eye opener.

Wow, that sounds fantastic! It's funny how we can always see the good parts of other people's lives and forget they have bad parts just like we do.
