I am happy to, once again, work with Chick Lit Plus Tours to review Confessions of an Alli Cat.
When I was approached to read this book, I jumped on the idea – why? Two reasons that have nothing to do with any type of scientific reasoning :)
Firstly, I loved, loved the cover – which tells you that while ebooks might be on the rise, covers are STILL incredibly important (at least for me, who has been notorious for picking up random reads because of the pretty covers).
Secondly, I loved, loved the title – what can I say, I like irony J
Now, for the more important aspect. Was the book actually any good? Yes it was.
I loved the fact that the author does not shy away from ‘mature content’ all the while retaining her sense of humor. Our main character Alli and her BFF Sara are a wonderful duo and they made me laugh. It is a great reminder of just how important it is, in life, to have a best buddy, someone to share the good and bad with.
While the book has a ‘fun’ tone to it, there is also a backstory about how difficult it is to be betrayed and how it can be a challenge to find your center once you have been betrayed.
Yes, there is a lot of sex talk (and action) in this book, but I am not particularly offended by this AND it was done in a respectful tone – which is all good to me.
I found myself rooting for Alli and hoping that she manages to find ‘her happy ever after’ with our without sex toys LOL
