REVIEW for Living Outside the Lines

Thank you goes out to Lori at the wonderful Red Deer
Press!
TITLE: Living Outside the Lines

AUTHOR: Lesley Choyce

GENRE: YA Sci-Fi
RATING: 4 Stars
The premise of Living Outside the Lines is interesting - through a school assignment, Nigel writes story about a society made up of only teenagers (god help us!). Little does he know that his girlfriend Michelle is actually from the future and Nigel's story and Nigel himself becomes involved in time travel or does he?
Usually, I am not a fan of this type of novel, but I like Lesley Choyce's books so I gave it a shot. I am quite happy that I did. this story is clever and feels like a storyline within a story to me.Although part of the storyline is indeed about time travel and what the future holds for the world and for humans in general, this story is also about a young man who will be called up to the plate and will have to figure out what is important to him in the present and for his future.
As I mentioned, I thought the twists and turns in this storyline were incredibly clever and while there is a strong message here for the YA, it is done through the media of sci-fi and manages to touch the imagination that is within each of us.As always, the writing is clear, precise and extremely entertaining.
This is a must read for all sci-fi nuts.

I am not usually "into" this kind of book either but it does sound interesting.

I rarely read sci-fi, but I'll be sure to tell my husband and son about this one.
